Miroca Paris

Island Rhythm Innovator
(Cabo Verde- Portugal)

Singer, percussionist, drummer, guitarist

Live at Haus der Kulturen der Welt – Black Atlantic Festival, Berlin, opening for Gilberto Gil July 2019

You’ve probably seen Miroca performing with Cesaria Evora (for 11 years), or excelling alongside international artists ea Sara Tavares, fadista Cuca Roseta, Tchecka, Dino D’Santiago, Madonna, Nancy Veira, his uncle Tito Paris and many many others.
While Miroca Paris is known as a virtuoso percussionist and drummer, on his new album D’Alma (Nov ’17) he returns to playing guitar – like he used to – growing up in the Cape Verde Islands . Drawing on his vast rhythmic knowledge, he’s created his own unique guitar playing technique, forward driving, playful, surprising and fresh. Together with his live band he premiered the D’ALMA Tour 2017 with a bang at WOMAD!

He’s since shared his music in 4 continents, toured with Madonna as opening act and musician, and even managed to perform with his own band in Berlin, Boston, Philadelphia and Lisbon during those 8 months.

From Barefoot Diva to Queen of Pop

Back on tour with his own band after touring with MADONNA 8 Month
Since Jan 2019 Miroca has been working with Madonna, who’s been living in his hometown of Lisbon, Portugal.

The singer and multi-instrumentalist is featured in her documentary film ‘The World of MadameX’, in her video for ‘Medellin’ ft Maluma, performed live at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and toured with her for 8 months. Miroca shined on stage, using his 20+ career experience, playing a multitude of instruments during the 2.5 hour long theater concert, from LP conga‘s to Moroccan krakebs. He’s opened over 60 shows with a half hour instrumental performance on guitar, together with 3 other Portuguese musicians, playing both old Madonna songs and Lusphone repertoire.
